Nimble Secure Shipping System Removal 1.0

Welcome to the first step of using your Nimble device! Here, we will walk you through how to remove your Secure Shipping System, which keeps the robotic arm safe during transit. You can follow along with Josh from our NimbleCare team in the video below, or click here if you prefer written instructions. (Please note that it is mandatory to remove the Secure Shipping System before use.)

Step 1: Connect the Nimble electrical cord to your power outlet, and plug it into the device.  Once your Nimble device is connected to power, the left Power button should be solid red.

Step 2: Press the Power button.  It will start blinking red for up to 2 minutes as it’s powering on.  In the meantime, remove the front door to reveal the Nimble Secure Shipping System.

Step 3:  Once the Nimble device is on, it should be in the following state:

  • Power button is solid white
  • Middle Paint button (circle button) is solid red
  • The LED bar in the front of the device (above the Secure Shipping System) is yellow
  • The 4 LED dots below the bar are yellow, yellow, yellow, green from left to right

Step 4: Now, identify the 3 black screws in the middle of the Secure Shipping System.  Unscrew them counterclockwise and completely remove from device.  Set aside.

Step 5: Once the screws have been completely removed and set aside, pinch the Triangle Clasp and pull out.  This will remove it from the Secure Shipping System, but it will still be connected via the red string.

Step 6: Brace one hand on the device, and use the other hand to pull the Center Steel Rod out as far as the device allows.  It’s okay to use a little bit of force here until you feel like it will not give anymore.

Step 7: Identify the twin black plastic rods (Double Flap Arms) with flaps on either side of the Center Steel Rod.  Grasp one with each hand, and TWIST outwards away from each other like you are turning a key in a lock.

You should feel them fall outwards, away from each other, fairly easily. Note:  If one or both are stuck, wiggle the Center Steel Rod in and out of the device until the Double Flaps Arms twist open easily.

Step 8:  Once the Double Flap Arms are fully open (picture a book that is now laying flat open on its spine), long press the middle Paint button that is currently solid red.  You will see the lights on the device flash.  The mobile phone icon will start blinking blue.  During this time, Nimble’s internal cameras are checking QR codes to make sure the Secure Shipping System is opened properly.

Once the device is ready, the hand assistant will go up.  The top LED bar will stay yellow, but all 4 LED dots will turn green.  Your operating buttons will return back to Power button being solid white, Paint button being solid red.

Step 9:  Now, grasp the base of the Secure Shipping System and all 3 rods on top in one hand, and gently pull the entire Secure Shipping System out.  Take care to hang on to the threads, so as to prevent loose pieces from falling inside the device.  You may need to gently wiggle the rods so the larger flaps inside holding Nimble’s robot arm can easily slide through the hand slot.  There is also a clear plastic film that can be removed from the hand plate, as well as the custom Nimble arm rest.

Step 10:  Once removed, long press the middle Paint button to boot up the Nimble device.  During this time, Nimble’s internal cameras are checking that the entire Secure Shipping System is removed.  You may discard the screws, all the pieces of the Secure Shipping System, and the clear plastic film.

Step 11:  Your device should return to a white Power button, a red Paint button, and a blinking blue Wifi light.  At this point, it’s ready to connect to Wifi.

Step 12: Pull up your app on your mobile phone, and follow directions on screen until it directs you to show QR code.

Step 13:  Holding the base of your phone with both hands, insert QR code into the top slot of your device until the line on screen lines up with the device exterior.  As the device is reading the QR code, the LED bar will gradually turn a solid dark blue.  This may take up to 1 minute.

Step 14:  Remove the phone when you see the mobile phone icon flash blue.  From here, your Nimble device is now connected to your Wifi, and will run a software update to ensure the latest and greatest is on your device.  The device will restart automatically after the software update - you will see the Power button blinking red.  This should take 2-3 minutes.

Step 15:  Once successfully updated, your Nimble device will show a solid white Power button, and a solid white Capsule button (far right).  This means that you’re ready for your first practice manicure!  Your app should also show a ‘Success!’ message.
